Bower appointments Jon King as Chairman

handshake

Bower are proud to announce the appointment of Jon King as Non-Executive Chairman.

The unveiling is testament to our continued success and the work we do in earnest every day in delivering the best equity release advice possible. King’s experience is nothing short of formidable, and we feel that his arrival will drive us forward as a company and ensure that we continue to deliver the finest possible advice for our past, present, and future customers.

As King is taking over as Non-Executive Chairman, Andrea Rozario, the previous incumbent, will move to an executive role as Chief Corporate Officer with immediate effect.

Within the equity release industry, the names Jon King and Andrea Rozario have been especially prominent over the years and the pair are renowned for their experience and expertise.

King’s financial service career spans nearly 30 years and, for the majority of this time, he has been championing the equity release cause. The industry wide successes of the equity release market are down, in part at least, to the fervent work of people like Jon King.

From 2010-2013, as Managing Director of equity release at More2Life, King oversaw a four-fold increase in new business volumes which followed on from his decade-long tenure as Chief Executive and Chairman of the industry body Safe Home Income Plans (SHIP). King has also worked for the likes of National Mutual Life Assurance, Clerical Medical Investment Group, Pearl Assurance, Ecclesiastical Insurance Group and equity release advisory firm Hinton & Wild.

Bower are thrilled to have bolstered our already strong team with someone as impressive as Jon King and we look forward to a long and fruitful future with Jon on board.

Geoff Charles, CEO of Bower, said:

“It is a massive coup for Bower that we have been able to attract an individual of Jon’s calibre to chair the firm and oversee the next stage of its development. He has spent close to two decades in the equity release sector and his experience operating on the advisory side of proceedings in addition to as a provider and on a trade body panel gives him great insight into where the market has come from and where it is headed. When you consider we are already able to call on the considerable expertise of Andrea Rozario – former Director General of the Equity Release Council – we have been able to assemble an enviable executive team that will help us grow from strength to strength.”

Jon King, Chairman of Bower, commented:

“The equity release market has enjoyed a strong year and will grow further in future as older homeowners continue to wake up to the benefits it can bring. I have seen the sector evolve to adapt to consumer requirements and it has become an essential component of the retirement industry. Joining Bower at an exciting time in its development was too good an opportunity to turn down and I look forward to maintaining its position as one of the pre-eminent independent equity release advisory firms and helping it grow further.”
